Minutes of Chapter Meeting (Wed., March 31 1993)
*Administrative notes:
Start: 7:05 pm; End: 7:50 pm. Present:
Traci, Tracy, Glenn, Jen'n, Henning, Harry, Jerry, Sara V., J.D., Joe,
Yale, Dave, Ping, Kevin, Crystal, Bridget
*Officers' reports:
*SVP's report:
Big Screw is starting tomorrow. (Gives shirt to Big Screw PC, who has
already begun to radiate stress waves.) Saturday we have a project at
Boston Food Bank; Amy's PCing it. BU's project is happening the same
day. Next week is the pledge project, I'm not sure what they're
doing. On the 13th of April from 6:30-9pm Lori is running a painting
project at Mass. Coalition for the Homeless. She's also finishing up
a survey of stores' handicapped accessibility. Beaver Day wants to
know if we want to work with them; probably not, we're pretty booked.
The Ride Board got worked on, thanks to Gilbert and Glenn and co.
Awards Convocation is the first week of May, I need a PC. We're not
doing anything for the CSF Road Race, the same day as I banquet, unless
someone begs to PC it.
*MVP's report:
The pledges asked how they're doing on their pledge requirements. (And
I said, how *are* you doing?..) I've put together a list of service
and fellowship events that have happened this term.
*AVP's report:
I went to the ASA ExecBoard meeting. They will be rewriting the
office policy over the summer because the new ExecBoard thinks it's
too vague.
I reserved a booth in Lobby 10, May 7-12 (Friday to Wednesday; finals
start Thursday.) for Rachel so she can sell MIT dragon shirts. She
will probably be looking for people to man the booth...
*Treasurer's report:
(Not present; written report)
Sorry I can't be here! I'm still looking for charities to donate Book
Exchange money ($3000) to. Suggestions so far are RIF and National
Braille Press.
Sara and I are trying to reconstruct the list of people who were at
Pledge Article Meal. Sara: perhaps you could do that now??
If any of the pledges or brothers want treasury training, you should
e-mail me or talk to me. Especially if you're thinking of running
for treasurer.
*Fellowship Chair's report:
Steak Fry's happening. The alumni invitations went out way too late.
I banquet's not happening if I don't get a PC. All you have to do as
PC is find the room, and get a food sub-PC. Not terribly heinous.
Isn't Chapter Weekend 2 coming up? yeah, the Blackout party is going
to be then. I should start planning.
*APOcEd's report:
I've been sick. I'm trying to get the Apoc out this Friday or next
week. The deadline for submissions is the end of Thursday.
*ASC's report:
The refrigerator is making a Godawful noise. The one sane suggestion
I've heard is to try to buy one from a graduating senior. That means
this one has to last until May. Does anyone have any leads?
*PubDir's report:
Nothing to report.
*Historian's report:
Not present.
*Chairman of the Advisory Committee, report of:
Nothing to report.
*President's report:
Thanks for planning and coming to my birthday party! I'm going to
make that one of the fellowship events of this term... We have
a billion Torch and Trefoils.. take some.. paper your room..
We need to put together a half page ``ad'' for the activities mailing.
(Ping: I'll convince Ann to do it.) We should have our letter put in
the Res Life book... I'll contact Eliot.
Yale: There's a sign on TCA saying descriptions for HowToGAMIT are
due tomorrow. (Harry: That's been taken care of.) The activities
page should probably be similar.
About finding members of NomComm... I've had responses from Kevin,
Bridget who is hosed, and Kate. So Kevin and Kate will do lunch and
sort it out. Other people should be on NomComm!...glennberry!
Nominations are in two weeks. Elections are two weeks later.
We have this cool ``How to PC a Chapter Weekend'' by Glenn Berry. It's
in the apo account: HowTo/HowToPC..
We have mail from a hundred billion people. (Crystal details all the
people we have mail from...) A conflict resolution workshop, a semi
formal at Delta Zeta (U Penn) on April 15 (Thursday!?), CPWs
everywhere over the summer: Independence MO, Cincinnati [I can never
spell that right] OH, Charlotte NC, Lafayette Indiana, Atlanta GA..
If you want to go, sign up.)
*Committee reports:
*ScrewComm:
We're going to set up the booth after the meeting ends.. you're going
to help, right?...
*CWII PC:
CWII is April 16-19 at a Girl Scout camp in Bolton, near 495. They're
really psyched to have us there. They have a ton-o-work... setting up
tents, raking, trail clearing. Tearing down a wall... [cries of
"YES!" from certain brothers :-] They don't have much rain work but
they're working on that.
I need sub-PCs! Transport, food, and manpower. If I don't get these
people.. I'm going to get an ulcer. I need a transport PC before
Steak Fry to draft people with cars. [Henning volunteers.] These
are not tough. Food pc has to make a menu and shop. There's some
food left from CWI still. Manpower needs to make a couple of phone
callings. Thanks a lot.
*New Business:
Crystal: People who went to Conclave know about Yale University..
a petitioning group wants the chapter to be rechartered (the previous
chapter ``died.'') (Crystal reads the letter.)
Glenn recommends approval. Ping calls to vote. Motion passes (with
none against, a few abstaining or maybe just asleep..)
*Announcements
Jen'n: There are projects this weekend, next weekend, and the weekend
after that. I got mail from an extrachapter brother and invited her
here to pledge project. See me if you want to do the other projects
mentioned in the SVP report (painting, CSF, etc.)
Traci: There will be a pledge project April 10. How many can make it?
(about 12.)
Yale: This is the last chapter meeting before then, what project have you
got in mind? (A confused exchange ensues. No one really knows what
the project will be. Jen'n thinks maybe a roofing project.)
Tracy: If you want to meet brothers from another chapter, come help at
the BU scout decathalon. It's inside! It doesn't matter if it snows!
Kate: (written announcement) There is a press shop meeting in the office
at 4:30 pm on Saturday to discuss (among other things) the press shop
standing policy to be. All are welcome, especially pledges interested in
learning to print -- an easy way to meet a journeyman. YiLFS Kate.
Jen'n: Ride Board is not finished. I'm not sure how we're going to work
this out. Talk to Glenn if you want to help work on it. It would be neat
if we actually finished it before I graduate...
Henning: April 13, Tea on the T. A study break. Meet at Kendall
inbound at 9:00 pm. There will be e-mail to remind people.
Amy: The project this weekend is Boston Food Bank. Meet at the office
at 8.
Dave: The Gilbert and Sullivan players need someone to print tickets.
Please, please.
*PFTGOTO
Jen'n: Thanks to Glenn and Gilbert and everyone who's PCd so far.
(people actually made the last two announcements now..)
Jen'n: Thanks to everyone who came to my elevator study break.
Bridget: Thanks to my sub-PC's!
Crystal: Thanks for the birthday party: Jen'n and Glen'n [sic] and
Sara and John. I hope we can have a great Big Screw!!
