Minutes of ExecComm (Wed., April 7, 1993)

*Administrative notes:

Start: 7:03 pm; End: 7:50 pm. Present:
Harry, Ann, Carrie (Ann's prefrosh), Paul (something to do with
Jen'n), Jen'n, Sara V, Dave, Jerry, Kate, Kevin, Yale, Henning,
Crystal, Bridget

*Ossifers' reports:
*SVP's report:
Last weekend we went to Boston Food Bank. Thanks Amy for turning in a
project report (which the ApocEd immediately swiped.) I talked to the
pledges yesterday at the pledge meeting; they're doing handicapped
accessibility on Saturday from 9-3.

Sara: They'll be doing a phone calling tonight and tomorrow night.

Scott's still looking for people to work on Ride Board. The weekend
after the pledge project, we wreak destruction and that other word
(havok) at Camp Virginia. Kevin's PCing. There will be a phone
calling. We're helping at the Walk for Hunger on May 1st, probably
registering people. If you're interested in awards banquet ushering,
see me. On the 22nd, the CPs are etching car serial numbers into the
windows to deter theft. They could use 12 volunteers at any one time.
See me if you want to do that.

If you've only made it to two projects, don't despair... before Pledge
Term Review, we still have Big Screw, the pledge project, CWII, and
glass etching! You can still make six projects before PTR!

Don't forget that there's a Schmuck.. at the spring I-banquet, the
Schmuck gives out humourous gifts. (For example, someone who trained
a lot of pledges got a little toy train.) You should leave notes on
the board with ideas.

*MVP's report:
I made room reservations for the PTReview Meeting and the ceremony. I
have to check on them tomorrow. People should be getting phone calls
about setting up pledge term interviews. PTR Meeting: everyone should
be able to vote! We need lots of people! The meeting will be on the
24th, starting at 10, in PDR foo. Pledges are doing pretty good on
the requirements, almost all have fulfilled them.

*AVP's report:
(er, what was my report? I don't think I reported anything.)

*Treasurer's report:
We got paid for Reg Day. I'm going to try to convert MIT money to
real money. We're actually running on Book Exchange money right now.
At the next chapter meeting, I will propose that we donate $4000 to
National Braille Press... this will be posted in the office.

People must be financially active two weeks before PTRM to vote!
That means THIS SATURDAY!

*Fellowship Chair's report:
Blackout's coming up. I need a moderator because I can't make it.
The format is a chance for people to talk to each other. The moderator
helps keep it focussed, maybe nudges it, etc. There is no standard way
to do it, it's only been done twice before.

I-banquet.. Crystal's PCing. If anyone else is interested, they can
(should) PC it. Or help.

Steak Fry happened. I'm sorry about that key thing. (Treasurer: The
auction take was $102.)

*APOcEd's report:
I'm still working on this issue of the Apoc. I have plenty of
articles, it should be out this week. We will have an elections
edition.

*ASC's report:
Nothing to report.

*PubDir's report:
I need suggestions for the board after Big Screw.

*Historian's report:
I took pictures at Steak Fry. An alum bought immunity, so none of you
are safe, ha ha ha!

*Advisor's report:
Nothing to report.

*President's report:
I finally sent off the shingles. I got lots of nice thank-yous.
DSK nominations meeting is next week. Everyone must come.
(Crystal explains DSKs, One More Time.)

Kate: Unless you attend the nominations meeting, you can't vote on
DSKs.

Crystal: I'm making little invitations for people.

I-banquet! I said I'd PC it. I tried the MIT Museum, but they're
closed on weekends. (Jen'n suggests Friday night. Initiation at 6.)
I'm going to talk to the director, he's one of our advisors. I tried
the Student Center but the rooms are all booked. (Yale suggests the
top floor of Tang but Sara points out it gets booked up pretty fast.
Later someone else notes that it, and McCormick, are too small
anyway.) As a last resort we could hold it in German House.
If we can't have at any of these other places, do people prefer Ashdown
or German House? We might get Andy Eisemann to waive the fee.
(Jen'n remembers a room on the 4th floor of the infinite corridor.
Crystal wonders about the faculty club.) I'll work on it.

I went to MIT catering, they seem pretty reasonable pricewise. I have
a Hot Lunch Buffet menu, $8.75 per person for vegetarian, $10.75
otherwise. Do people think this is reasonable? I plan on using
fellowship money. Can people pay $10 each? (Discussion of cheaper
places. E.g. Boston Chicken, which delivers, $5 per person; and
other unnamed caterers which cost $8 or $9.) MIT catering is top
notch. If you want someplace else, tell me! Get me menus! I don't
have time.

*Committee reports:

*ScrewComm:
Well, Big Screw hasn't crashed so far. We have some candidates. We
have some money.

Sara: Do you have certificates for runners up? [Ha! No.. you
honestly think I'm that organized?]

Henning: We have $368 so far.

*NommComm:
The NommComm Entity is Kevin, Kate, Crystal, and Ping. We'll be
hunting you down, unless you come to us. We think we have one decent
candidate for everything. If you want to run for something, tell us.

*CWII:
Kevin: (1) I spoke to my contact. Nobody from camp will be there Friday
night. I need someone with a car to get me to Waltham before then
(during business hours) to get the keys.

(2) Joe says we have a letter, filed away somewhere, saying we're an
MIT student group and we're insured. I need to find it. If we can't
find it, what administrative office can I talk to to get another?

Dave: Ask Eisenmann, he's one of our advisors.

*New Business:
*Press Shop Policy:
Kate: I have a new press shop policy for the next chapter meeting.
The difference is that there are no details of how to keep the accounts.
It was approved at the press shop meeting.

Yale: What does the second sentence in the first section mean?
The last sentence seems to require a separate checking account for the
letterpress.

Kate: Can't we just keep separate records? I think that's what he
means. He'd better mean that. I'm not going to keep the accounts any
differently than I am now.

*Fall Pledge Class Namesake:
Crystal: Who has the stuff from past years? (Jen'n, apparently.)
If we send anything it's due in on April 24.

Jen'n: mrn might have some too.

*Announcements
Henning: Pledge project on Saturday April 10, 9-3. Al will be in
charge. We will be surveying restaurants on handicapped
accessibility. It's voluntary on their part. The one hour
mandatory training session is at 9. The meeting afterward to compare
notes is also mandatory. Bring bus fare and lunch money. People will
work in pairs. (Various people say: meet where at 9?)

Henning: Tuesday the 13th there will be a Tea on the T study break.
Where can I find some scones?

Henning: April 22, window etching from 9-4 with the CPs. It'll be fun.
It discourages car theft.

Henning: If you're going to the gym, watch your wallet.

Jen'n: Bridget, talk to me after the meeting. Anyone interested in Ride
Board talk to me.

*PFTGOTO
