Just finished writing 'ay' cha'maH wejDIch of mIl'oD veDDIr SuvwI'=3B it wa=
s tough. Not because the material was hard or anything=2C but the 'ay' was =
intended to be spoken by foreigners from a distant country=2C so to emphasi=
se that I wrote the whole chapter in Krotmag dialect.
I found it an intriguing challenge to make language choices appropriate to =
the context. mej caused particular headaches - particularly in one section =
where it says "everyone left us". numej Hoch could mean two completely cont=
radictory things. So I cheated and put it as mejmeH ratlh pagh "no-one rema=
ined to leave/watch". Similarly "he ignored us"=2C where numuSHa'taH is biz=
arre.
If anyone's done much Krotmag writing=2C what are some of your favourite co=
nfused pairs?
