I guess "machinery" is a singular word that shouldn't pluralised, so

This was discussed recently in another thread. There's a Klingon line
in this movie, {tlham chach chu'qa'}. This suggests "backup system"
would be {pat chach}, i.e., "the system's backup", or "backup of the
system".
