Concerning the Metallica song:
Thanks for the help! I did this mainly as an exersize in translation, and
expected some mistakes. I finally hashed through the thing as far as
meter, and found that this translation has it (it is still hard to fit in
certain places, like line 2, which was giving me trouble, but that is mainly
because Klingon stresses and word endings are in the 'wrong' places.) In mine
I used an old standby of switching two eighths for a quarter when the words
didn't fit. I matches the breaks instead of the syllables, but I think this
version is singable.
I like 'my lord', but didn't think of it. (I know, how can I call myself a
Trekkie. the phrase is even in the book :( )
Well, I'm off to another attempt at translation. What will it be? who knows?
probably more Metallica. They have such Klingon-esque songs.
When I translated this, I couldn't help but think of the episode where
Worf lost his legs and wanted to die. How much worse the torture of the
warrior who looses everything and has no way to end it.
Probably a song of deep Mourning for the klingons. They would definetly react
differently to it then would humans. Humans would doubt the moral correctness
of killing the soldier, Klingons would not.
