For video cards, get one that is on the supported list, or one that you
know for sure has been used by someone who's email address you know.
For sound cards, just get a Soundblaster, they are the most compatible.
For modems:
1. Some Winmodems masquerade as real modems.
2. If it's PCI, its a winmodem.
3. If it's external it's not a winmodem.
4. If it's the cheapest in the store, it's a winmodem.
5. If it comes in a cheap, complete PC package, its a winmodem.
6. If it has jumpers to disable PNP, it's not a winmodem.
Check compatibility first, then buy. It is hard to return things
because Linux does not support them yet.
