Star Office 5.0 dumping core on install...

Just got so5 downloaded after a few days of trying. Un tared ok. I go
to install and it locks X up tight - no mouse, nothing. Lose all
keyboard control as well. I noticed a rather large core dump file in
the my home dir.
Anyone else having this problem?
System is 5.0 with erratas. Tried this under the stock redhat wm and
under KDE. The install gets so the first screen after the "loading
scripts" box. It's an empty status box, with a [ Next >> ] button - no
text on the screen at all, and the mouse has frozen.
