I had this problem once - it was because the BIOS on the PC was not
configured with the right layout of the hard drive.
Since the install process starts with floppy's, the HD layout doesn't =
need
to be right (in the BIOS) and the kernel detects the correct layout =
along
the way. The LILO boot mgr obviously relies on the BIOS to tell it =
where to
read, etc.
