Just wanted to throw my quick .02 in on KDE. I would not even bother going with KDE unless you have plenty of RAM. It is an extreme memory hog. I agree that it is nice, and easy to configure, but just be sure you have enough RAM. I ended up dumping it and then tryign Gnome, but I didn't have too much luck with it.
