Well, after sending my last response to this message I went ahead
and rebooted after mv-ing xinitrc back to .xinitrc in my home
directory. In .xinitrc is the line "startkde" and that's it (the
original references/calls to start fvwm2, etc, are there but
commented out).
Upon restarting, kdm comes up with the list of window managers
I have available but STILL no matter which I select, I always get
fvwm2.
What am I forgetting or missing here? This really should not
be so problematic...it needs to be made easier (why is it necessary
to edit or refer to so many different files? Xsessions, xinitrc,
Xsetup, kdmrc, inittab, etc).
