You don't mean splitting the list into little sub-lists with their own
topics, do you? Attempts to do that so far have apparently met with
little success, and tend to give rise to excessive cross-posting.

A good idea, but do keep in mind that a significant percentage of the
subject lines on this list are inaccurate compared to the body, and any
search engine that is anything more than a placebo will have to search
message bodies as well. Also, formulating the right search string to
hit what you want is enough of an art as it is without drastically
narrowing the search field.

Would that really help? I'm not sure about this but wouldn't an
approach like that just take a big processor drain and replace it with a
big bandwidth drain? Redhat sure doesn't need that.
