It is possible, using a module called iBCS, for intel Binary
Compatibility Standard. It's basically a little table that attaches to
the kernel as a module and does translations of system calls. If you
have the RedHat 5.1 cd, you should be able to find an rpm on there
called kernel-ibcs.blahblahblah.i386.rpm.
Now the catch. Some have reported problems getting iBCS to run "out of
the box" on RedHat 5.x (I think both 0 and 1). This is probably
overkill, but I've been able to succeed regularly by doing a new kernel
compile (remembering to say yes to "version information on all modules")
and also re-compiling iBCS.
Now the other catch. Xenix binaries are mentioned in the docs as
causing problems for iBCS under certain circumstances. If you just run
the simple stuff you should be okay, but caveat emptor.
