If you want to avoid problems like the above I would strongly advise
the use of a filter system like magicfilter or apsfilter.  I use the
former; it will print plaintext straight to the printer while sending
dvi and PostScript files to the appropriate programs like GhostScript,
etc.

Red Hat, how 'bout incorporating one of these filters into your setup
instead of continuing to muck around with the printtool?
