Aha ! I haven't had coffee yet, but a few new cells started working...
What if were to say:
"When I telnet onto my host and get a login prompt, if I mistype
my username it won't let me edit it, and I have to hit return
and follow the path of failure..."
???
Then it is not a problem with the console devices tty1..etc., and MAY NOT
BE a problem with regular GETTY.
It is definitely a problem with telnet. Maybe on the client side ?
No, wait. I can do just about everything right once I login and TERM
is set.
How do I set TERM before someone logs-in via telnet, I guess is the
real question.
