You can create a .telnetrc on the system you are telneting in from,
and set localchars and erase to be ^H. The man page will give you
details, I've never done it. (Seems to be more trouble than it's
worth.) There doesn't appear to be a way to set it for telnetd in
general. You could change the global default by editing the kernel
source... no idea where it is, but it's set in there somewhere.
