Ahhh... The most important thing for People comming from a Different
Computer-Side, e.g. M$, have to learn, is to read... I know I know,

Typicall M$-Used Guy. sorry, und LiNUX or Unix, it's not a solution to
reinstall 10 Times to see if the hardware works. What you need is to
get the Hardware Compatibility HOWTO (It's on the CD BTW), and look if
the used Hardware is stated in there.

All drives that are both QIC-117 compatible and one of the QIC-40, 80,
3010, and 3020 standards should work. QIC-WIDE and Travan drives are
also supported (TR-1 is just QIC-80 with 8mm tapes, while TR-2 and
TR-3 is a.k.a QIC-3010 and 3020 respectively).
Currently, the list of drives that are known to work with ftape is:

=B7 Archive 5580i / XL9250i
=B7 Colorado DJ-10 / DJ-20 (aka: Jumbo 120 / Jumbo 250)

Hmmm... Vivtron Monitor you Say ??? Hmmm... OK, maybe not stated by
the name in the Monitor Howto, but Nowadays all Monitors do support
the VESA Standards, so pucking up a VESA Compliant Monitor the Support
your Horizontal Frequency should do it. This is however explained in
the Howto's... -> 3 to 0 for The Sales lady.
Matrox Millenium ? Yes, the Metro-X Driver supports it quite well,
unfortunatly some Matrox Cards (Bulk Ware Cards with 175MHz Ramdac)
make problems, it is not legal to sell these Cards as Millenium Cards,
ask matrox for it. As I don't know what Card you have, No Specific
Data about it, and what you Told the Sales Lady, I will skip scoring=20
here...
BTW: I have a Matrox Millenium 220 Card here with 220MHz Ramdac + 4MB
Wram and everything works like a Charm...

What would you have Paid for an M$ product ??? And did you ever get
support from them ??? Well, at university I tried for the NT Boxes. It
took me 3 Houres to get someone on the Line who first understood my
Question (The othere's where trimmed to say, reinstall you system...),
jsut to here eh don't know an answer and gave me a Phone-number from
their development Departement somewhere in the States.. Trying to call
there during 4 hours was enough...

Sorry, but when someone comes with such an arrogant attitude in this
list, I can't hold myself explaining him how to do something. Maybe
next time, when you've learned reading and asking politely you might
get an helpfull answer from me or someone else on the list.

Well, if one package doesn't install, install the package it says it's

Yes. the Superuser should only do administrative Work. Add a User to
your System to work with it. if you want to a some new packages or
features, do it as Admin user you define, if it needs Root-rights, do
it as root.
