Hoehoehoe.. That one was good ;)
I haven't tested it yet, since I don't have the shadow-utils package (New one)
yet. I however have another problem.
As I use a little network at Home for testing some stuff before implementing it
at university, I run shadow Passwords and NIS here. OK, since I upgraded to
pam-0.54 (I like the md5 Password encryption and the Long passwords ;)) on my
Play-Maschine (stardust), I'm not able to log in from my internet Gateway
(stargate) anymore as a User that has it's informations exported through NIS
services to stardust. Not even on the Console of stardust I'm able to log in as
a User.
Here's the related Syslog Entry:
Nov 26 18:46:50 stardust PAM_pwdb[1787]: check pass; pwdb: requested item was \
not found
Nov 26 18:46:51 stardust syslog: FAILED LOGIN SESSION FROM (null) FOR joerg, \
User not known to the underlying authentication module
It doesn't matter how I try to get in, it just doesn't work...
Well, as I think the authentication module knows if the encrypted password is
md5 style or not, I don't know what could be wrong...
Ths NIS is correctly Configured -> ypcat, ypmatch & Co. give me the right
results, and I'm using the NIS Built into the Libc-Code version from plain
redhat 4.0. Dunno what to check more.
I didn't change much in the pam-conf file /etc/security except the limits file
for one user (me :)) and allow several logins for users of the Group @users.
It looks like the pwd stuff doen't get the password using the NIS-Call of the
libc. Could it be so ???
Any Comments appreciated..... As this is a Completely Alpha System where I test
& work, tell me what to test out... I always find a Way to get back into the
System ;)
