Adaptec 2940UW Problems

Has anybody with an adaptec 2940UW been able to install Red Hat 4.0?
I have an adaptec 2940UW, I have tried both the bootaic7xxx and the
bootaic7xxx-alt from the errata page and nothing is working. I must admit
that I am a little confused about point 5. in the errata-intel.txt file.
It says
"when the installation or upgrade has finished and the computer
reboots, put the boot floppy in the drive and boot off it with the
boot command: ..."
I letting the system just reboot from the floppy, which of course just
gave me back the installation program. I also tried letting lilo come up
and typing the command given, which gave me an error. I also tried boot
from dos and moving to the floppy which of course did not work because the
floppy is linux and not dos.
With both of the new Kernal images, the boot floppy finds my Quantam SCSI
hard drive by name during the installation boot but after installing I get
nothing.
