I agree with this statement. But, I have consistently been using
AcceleratedX now with a Matrox Millenium (at first 2 MB, now 4 MB).
I had experience with XFree 3.1.2 on the Mach 64 GX card.
The combination of AcceleratedX and the Matrox is just wonderful.
The display is beautiful and deep. The 24 bit color very rich. The
display comes close (it may be better I don't know) to that of my Sparc 20
in the office with a fancy video card.
I highly recommend this combination. I have not tried the benchmarks, am
just giving my feeling based on my visual perception.
