If you want to use MetroX's OpenGL, I think you need their server.

Motif, no.
OpenGL, maybe. I'm not sure that it's really a technical issue, as
much as a licensing issue. They won't sell you ther OpenGL without
you having their server, so they don't have to support XFree (or
whatever else you use) with their OpenGL.
There is Mesa, which is an (free) OpenGL clone... if you're not
wanting to do anything overly intense you may want to check that out.

I certainly wouldn't want to be the one to manage that. I do believe
you'd have to have separate X libraries for each of them... that would
not be fun to manage. It's not nearly the same as running XF86_SVGA
or XF86_Mono on the fly.
