Hello,

I've sent a couple of posts to redhat-list as well as to one of the Red Hat
tech support mail addresses, and I still have not found a solution to my
problem of getting the latest 4.0 boot.img to recognize my Ultrastor 24F SCSI
adapter. I thought I'd try again, in the hope that someone with a solution
might read this.

Problem: During boot using the latest 4.0 boot.img, 0 SCSI hosts are
detected. Consequently my hard drives and CDROM are inaccessible, and the
installation fails.

I've been successfully using my Ultrastor 24F SCSI adapter since the days of
kernel 0.98, and have recently been runing 2.0.18 and 2.0.25 with equal
success. None of the kernels I've built have used a kernel module for the
SCSI adapter --- I've always compiled that part into the kernel. It seems the
modularized kernel simply has difficulty autodetecting my SCSI card.

If someone at Red Hat reads this, I would greatly appreciate any support they
could provide. I purchased the Red Hat Archives (not the boxed set) and I
realize that they do not come with support. However, the problem I'm
observing appears so fundamental, and seemingly unsolvable on my part alone,
that I'm hoping Red Hat will provide support in this case. For reference, my
Customer ID is C006211 (Invoice # I-025940).

If, by chance, there are any other Ultrastor 24F users reading this who have
had success with 4.0, I'd be grateful if you could send me a brief description
of any special procedures that might have been required.

I've enclosed a short description of my hardware below. Thanks in advance!

Regards,
