Xlock and shadow on Red Hat 4

Well
It was suggested I obtain the xlockmore shadow rpm from
http://www.broadwaynet.com/~shadow/
I did that and had to uninstall my RH 4 xlock before I could install the
'newer' one.
However, xlock is now complaining
xlock: can't load library 'libcrypt.so.1'
which is understandable as it's not on my system (courtesy find).
Now - there *must* be a way of having xlock work with the *standard* Red
Hat 4 packages I would suppose - anyone care to tell me what to do?
