So someone else has actually been bitten by this one. I am curious how
you decided that the chipset in the Winbook FX is a 7548, not a 7543,
since I've told things that it was a 7543 and had success.
I was unable to get MetroX to work, with a similar bug. configX would
lock up my machine upon exiting, but I did not get any message
complaining about an unknown chipset. It quietly wrote the Xconfig file,
then did something which hung my computer after about 5 seconds.
I am currently running a modified XF86_SVGA server from:
ftp://bmrc.berkeley.edu/pub/linux/xserver/
which was put out by Eric Anderson (eanders@cs.berkeley.edu). It seems
to work well, but I haven't tried putting it through its paces. I am
using the config file from that site almost verbatim; I only changed the
font paths.
I would like to get MetroX to work, so if anyone knows anything about
why it is locking up my Winbook FX, I would like to hear it.
