Hi all
Well I've been lurking on this list for some time now and decided to take
the plunge. I went and got the RedHat 4 and am not having a great deal of
success installing it. My first and #1 problem is that I can not get it to
recognize my CDROM. My system is a Compaq 486SX, 33mhz, 16megs Ram, 1.2g HD,
and my CDROM is something that came with my PC, it seems to be a product of
compaq called CDS and it is controlled by a Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum
16 board. I have tried every combination that I can think of with the RedHat
installation. Well not letting myself be beat, I decided to just copy it all
to my DOS partition and run the install from there. Well it would seem that
DOS does not recognize many of the file names and So I can not copy all of
the necassary files to my HD.
I'm now stuck!!!..................
If any of you kind souls have any suggestions or Ideas I'm all ears. I have
tried to look for a more detailed FAQS on forcing LILO to read the CDROM but
from what I have found the DOCS are not very detailed. So I tried most of
the combinations that the install book suggest. like "hdc=cdrom" etc......
TIA for any help
