If he has 2940, then we are talking pci. Many machines have two problems.
First is that they do not support the part of the PCI spec that allows for
sharing of IRQ's. Second, is that the bios on these machines (usually
mail order desktops or consumer multimedia machines) does not allow
assigning IRQ's to a specific slot or PCI vs ISA.
End result is that you DO have to decide which card you are willing to
replace with an ISA version.
