Whoa, I think this may be the source of my sendmail-does-dnslookups
problem. I'm wrasslin' with it and diald -- I'd like sendmail to
play nice with DNS until I flush the queue. Thumbing through the Bat
Book and the sendmail docs, I came across the idea of a services.switch
file, and nsswitch.conf seems to fit the bill. (How come I never
noticed this before? Is this a newish thing for Linux?)
Anyway, where can I find out more about how this thang works? (i.e.,
when it says "hosts: files nisplus nis dns" I assume this means
that local files should be checked first, then nisplus, then nis,
then resort to dns. Which local files are being referred to?)
