I uploaded g77-0.5.18 and the corresponding gcc RPMS some time ago,
and you can find it in contrib. It requires recent versions of rpm,
and probably of libc as well (i.e. Red Hat 4.0).
g77 is faster, produces better code and is far more compatible with
FORTRAN 77 than fort77+f2c.
It is my hope that Red Hat will put g77 into their distribution (I've
gotten quite a few mails asking about g77, so there is interest in
it).
There is, AFAIK, no free Fortran 90. I use NAGware's compiler with
very good results (probably http://www.nag.com/ or
http://www.nagware.com/). I've got no idea of how much it costs (we've
got a site license :-), but it is really good, and I heartily
recommend it.
