Dump works very well for this.

From / or raven, type

 dump 0uvf picard:tape_device /

Also, check out the man page on dump since you may not like the default
tape settings. 

You will need to have the full hostname of raven (i.e., full second
field in /etc/hosts) in picard's /.rhosts.
