Hm... I use amd for home directories on NFS servers on RHL 3.0.3.  Can't say 
I've ever considered using it for removable media.  It sounds kind of 
dangerous for floppies.  Until the floppy is unmounted you don't know if 
everything has been flushed.  How would you know this for sure.

It seems much easier and safer to allow user mounting.  What exactly are you 
trying to accomplish by automounting this sort of device?
