I cannot get the CD-ROM to be detected in the Red Hat 4.0 install
program. I have a 2x speed creative labs CD-ROM with Soundblaster 16
card interface.
My soundblaster card has both an IDE interface and a Panasonic
interface....moving the ribbon cable to the IDE interface doesn't appear
to be an option at the moment, as I tried it, and the drive wouldn't do
anything at all, not even open the slider tray. The parameters I try to
use is:
sbpcd=0x230,5,SoundBlaster
I've also tried to use sbpcd=0x230,1 (from the module-parameters file.)
On the alternate screens, I observed the following, which occurred during
both autoprobe and when I manually entered the parameters:
ALT-F3 view:
/bin/insmod /bin/insmod /modules/sbpcd.o
mounting.......
/mnt rc=-1
/tmp/rhimage rc=0
Making device sbpcd (25,0) as /tmp/sbpcd
Calling mount (/tmp/sbpcd /tmp/rhimage, iso9660, -105209791,(nil))
ALT-F4 view:

!st_diskok detected - retrying (appears 3 times)
sbp_status: failed after 3 tries

<4>isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev 19:00 iso_blknum 16 block 32
This is what I saw on the two screens...again, this CD-ROM
configuration worked with Red Hat 2.1. I appreciate your time and prompt
response to my inquiries. I'm not too happy to have put my hard-earned
money down on this and I can't even get it off the ground.
