Strange login behaviour:

None of this happenned in 3.0.3, but I did a complete reinstall to 4.0.
But this used to work:
[mjyan@aptiva mjyan]$ hostname
aptiva
[mjyan@aptiva mjyan]$ rlogin aptiva -l yanowitz
aptiva: unknown host
[mjyan@aptiva mjyan]$ telnet aptiva -l yanowitz
aptiva: Unknown host
[mjyan@aptiva mjyan]$ telnet localhost
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.

Why don't telnet and rlogin recognize aptiva as the hostname, but
localhost is recognized?

Also when I login, to any non-root account:
1) Any password is accepted
2) So I typed passwd and enterred a new password which is a
2 digit number followed by a 5 character word, and passwd responded
  with:
it is based on a dictionary word

I have used similar passwords in the past, and this is the only
time where a password such as 34linux (not my real password)
would not be allowed. I don't want a cryptic password. Are there
any normal passwd programs around or could/should I load the one
from 3.0.3?

                                             Thanks in advance:
                                             Michael J. Yanowitz
