I have a question about getting all of my SCSI devices recognized by
Linux. My hardware configuration is as follows:
Gateway 2000 P5-90 with 64 MB RAM
2 EIDE hard drives
BusLogic BT-958 SCSI adapter
Adaptec AHA-1542CF SCSI adapter
2 SCSI hard drives, both connected to BT-958
3 Plextor CD-ROM drives (2 on BT-958 and 1 on AHA-1542CF)
SyQuest EZ135 external SCSI connected to BT-958
DAT tape backup unit connected to AHA-1542CF
I am running the official Red Hat Linux 4.0 with a few packages from
Caldera Network Desktop installed (primarily the font server and
backup software) and most of the updates from the Red Hat ftp site. I
have tried recompiling the kernel, but I am currently running the
kernel installed by the Red Hat installation program. All of the
devices connected to the BT-958 are recognized and working well, but
the AHA-1542CF and devices connected to it are apparently not being
recognized. This is especially critical since my TBU is on the
AHA-1542CF, and, less importantly, the CD-ROM drive connected to the
AHA-1542CF is the only one connected to my sound card as the others
are installed in an external SCSI tower, so I am unable to play audio
CDs through the sound card.
If anyone can tell me how to get these other devices recognized, I
would really appreciate it.
