I hate SCSI !
Actually, it works pretty good until you get the one adapter that isn't
supported !
I have Adaptec 2940 for a monkey.
These, and perhaps yours require a special compilation option.
Additionally, there are numerous FAQ's, many of which cover Adaptec.
I know that some need a firmware upgrade.
Of course, if yours works when it is alone, then maybe there is a
hardware conflict. If you can't talk to it at all, then there is
probably an answer burried in the SCSI HOW-TO (new one) regarding your
particular adapter.
Do you need to have the tape on a different controller ? They are
low overhead devices...
Also, there are sometimes kernel boot time parameters that have been
known to actually work sometimes, like changing the base io address, or
IRQ of the adapter in /etc/lilo.conf for the given kernel image...
Sometimes this doesn't work when a driver ignores 'em...
If one of those topics doesn't do it, then I'm out. Sorry for lack
of specific fix...
