One of the reasons for shifting around was purchase of new MGA Matrox Millenium 4Mb video card. On my previous install I had problems with MetroX; I finally gave up & just loaded XFree86 v3.1.2G, which suited my ATI Graphics Xpression CT264 card just fine. With the Matrox card I don't have that option. Two points came up right away: 1. Can someone point me to where the documentation on what driver the X link is supposed to point to? As it was installed (twice), it seems to point to never-never land, and I don't seem to have much luck locating documentation. And, yes, I have the official version, with manual. 2. When trying to configure the card in the first place, the best options MetroX seems to give is for 1024X768 resolution @ 70Hz. Did I miss something? My other installation, with AcceleratedX installed, supports up to 1600x1200 at a faster refresh rate. Should be able to do better than 1024X768 with a 4Mb Matrox Millenium card and a Viewsonic PT770 17" monitor. 3. No, I'd prefer not, for now, to install AcceleratedX with RH 4.0. I'm stubborn, I'd like to get what I paid for working as well as possible. 8^) TIA Rick F. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- | Rick Forrister | <rickf@glacier.jpl.nasa.gov | | Win 95: Where do you want to go today? | | Linux: What do you want tomorrow? | ------------------------------------------------------------------- -- PLEASE read the Red Hat FAQ, Tips, Errata and the MAILING LIST ARCHIVES! ________________________________________________________________________ http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-FAQ http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-Errata http://www.redhat.com/RedHat-Tips http://www.redhat.com/mailing-lists ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe: mail -s unsubscribe redhat-list-request@redhat.com < /dev/null
