Yep. "ef" is SysV-ish and "aux" is bsd-ish. That's the one thing that
bugs me about Linux; it isn't consistently one or the other. It's
nearly entirely SysV -- except for when it's not, like ps (a command I
use all the time). I have no idea where the author of ps got the tree
output idea for ps -ef!
