What worked for me was mounting the cdrom and cd'ing to /mnt/cdrom/gnome.
I tried the script, which didn't work for me at all; then tried doing an
"rpm -Uvh *.rpm". IIRC, the first time through I got a couple of errors.
The second time through it installed. Read through the install script &
did a bit of fiddling from there.
Remember that the current version of gnome is a release "for the fun of
it", and not really supported. I got it working, & then went back to
XFCE2 for now. Mind you , I like gnome. But I'll wait for the next
release.
