My ATAPI (IDE) Zip drive works perfectly with 5.1 - it's just IDE, Linux 
2.0.x knows all about that.  Just slot it in and Linux'll find it.  Compare 
that to the parallel Zip, where you have to make it pretend to be a SCSI 
device.

Here's a tip - vfat Zip disks mount as partition 4 by default: when I 
convert Zip disks to ext2 I use fdisk to remove partition 4 and create a 
partition 1, THEN mkfs ext2.  That way there's no confusion about which 
type of disk I'm mounting and zero possibility of one fs overwriting the 
other.
