You might have selected an odd set of packages.
Doing that is not encouraged, but you can
because, after all, it's your machine!

Try using the default set of packages, as
an 'install' not an 'upgrade'.   Be sure to have
it format all your linux partitions for a
fresh start.

Once you have 5.1 up and working,
start downloading all the updates for
5.1 - they fix lots of bugs and security
problems.

5.2 only has a small number of updates so far.
The 5.1 and earlier updates are built into 5.2.
