Not sure. I tried it just now, and it wasn't readily apparent where
to put in just any app that isn't on the panel already.

But there's another way - don't put it on the panel as such, put
it on your desktop instead. If you do that, you can type in any
executable and be able to double click on a desktop icon and have
the executable run.

To do it -- right click on any unused part of the desktop, and a
menu should appear. Follow "New >" and select "Program" with the
mouse.  A Krootwm dialogbox will appear, and you can type in
the name of the program there. For example: 'xboard.kdelnk' if
you like to play chess. :) The text is arbitrary -- you could 
call it "PlayChess.kdelnk" if desired; it is not dependent (at
least in this stage) on the name of any particular executable.

Next, rightclick on the new icon on your desktop, and another
dialog box will come up. Tab over to Execute, and then type
in the full path to the executable you wish to run. Also click
on the gear icon, if you want to change the icon to something
better.
