A newbie myself, but I believe this is how it's done..

To add an application icon to the KDE desktop just right click on the
empty space of your desktop and choose new program. That will give you
an icon with the label Program. Right click on the icon and choose
properties. In the General tab, under name, substitute program with
whatever application it is eg. FileRunner. Under the Execute tab set the
path to your application and click on the icon to change to whatever
icon you want.

To add an application to your menu, click on the K Icon on your panel,
choose Panel then Edit Menus. That'll give you your menu structure and
from there you can add, change, delete etc. Basically similar to the
instruction on top. Remember to save before you quit. And then Panel
Restart to restart the panel for your changes to take effect.

To add an application to your panel, click on the K icon then choose
Panel then Add Application and it'll show you your menu... Choose
whichever application you want to add, and there you have it. Which
brings me to a question...

Can I add an application to the panel if the application is not on my
menu? If so, how?

Hope the above info helps... Correct me if I'm wrong... :-)

TIA,
Clare
