Had a thought, and just wanted to know if it's something that might be
doable.

I have a local network, with a linux server feeding two other Win boxes
( 95 client and an NT graphics workstation )

I have two remote accounts on my ISP, and my school.

What I want to know is there a way to map an ftp connection so it shows
up as local file system?

Basicaly have it set so instead of having to use an ftp client, I can
have whatever program consult a config file, make the ftp connection,
and mount the remote file system to /mnt so normal file commands can
work. Something like SAMBA for netbios connections.

Such an animal? The reason is - I wouldn't have say NSF access. Just
my normal logons via ftp and telnet.

It also might be useful to be able to map say a remote ftp anonymous
logon, this program would need to be able to reconnect when needed, so
it's not gumming up the ftp server 24/7 with connections. Say make the
connection at maping, cache a recursive directory listing, and then
disconnect. Only making a connection to get/put files or refresh the
directory listings.

Sound like anything that's out there? Or am I going to have to scratch
this itch myself? :P
