---------------------------------------------------------------------
As many users probably know, for the last month I have been working on a new
database and indexing system for Hobbes, tentatively called Hobbes-Engine
(however, there is an ongoing suggestion pool for new names going on -
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/votename if interested). As of today, the
normal file browser has been replaced with the all-new one. To access it,
you don't need to do anything special, as it will be used automatically.
In the meantime, for the FTP users there is now additional files,
00files.txt and 00filesd.txt, which are nicely-formatted (IMO :) versions of
the 00index files with the extended information. The 00index files still
exist for the benefit of the search engine (it's still the old one, though
I've integrated the new browser into it more or less seamlessly besides the
changes in color and formatting). When it is no longer necessary to keep
the old-format 00index files, I will decide whether they should be
completely replaced with 00file or not, as I know that many users out there
parse the 00index files for certain pieces of information, and the new
format will most certainly break them. (00global is still the old format,
however, and will remain that way.)
Anyway, I hope to have the new search engine completed and working within
the next week. Seeing as how it's almost 11 PM on a Friday night and I've
been working on this since 3 PM, however, I think it's time to go home. :)
