---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ceres Software has released the Second Beta Version of
                  Ceres SoundStudio for OS/2 !
------------------------------------------------------

Fixed Bugs / Improvements
-------------------------

   - General:
        - Improved performance.
   - Error Messages:
        - All error messages are now in english.
   - Installation:
        - When SoundStudio starts the first time, it will detect the
soundcard, which is used for all audio operations. If you have
more than one soundcard installed, the first one installed will be
          used.
        - A standard accelerator-table will be used when starting
          SoundStudio for the first time.
   - Changing time format:
        - The time-format can be changed via a context-menu of the
time-ruler control or via the submenu <Time Format> in menu
          <View>.
        - The new time-format applies only to the active wave-file. This
means, you can set a different time-format for every open wave.
        - The time-format, which you can set in the settings-pages, acts now
as the default format for opened / new wave-files.
   - Recording Source:
        - Selecting the record-source now works.
        - You can set a different record-source for every open wave-file. A
default record-source can be set in the Record-Settings Page.
   - Selecting the Record Level:
        - You can select the record-level for the active wave-file in menu
<Record><Level>. You have the following choices:
             - Low record level (50 %)
             - Medium record level (75 %)
             - High record level (100 %)
             - User defined level (0 .. 100 %)
   - Monitoring of the record level:
        - Now you can monitor the record level in the Main-Volume-Control.
The monitoring starts, when you start the recording.
   - Mixer-Support:
        - You can set up one mixer-application for every installed
          soundcard.
   - Temporary Files:
        - The temporary path is selected as follows:
             - if environment variable "temp" is set, the path, to which
               "temp" points, will be used.
             - if "temp" is not set, the path, where SoundStudio is
               installed, will be used.
    - Scrolling Cursor:
        - Scrolling is now supported in zoomed-mode, if no block is selected
and the displayed range of the wave-file is larger then 100 ms.
    - Main-Volume Control:
        - The vertical size of this control has been decreased. The button
for channel locking has been removed. If you want to change the
locking of left and right channel, use the context-menu.
    - Closing SoundStudio:
        - If an open file is changed, and you cancel the question, whether
to save the file or not, SoundStudio will not close.

This beta-version expires on March 31, 1998. The next version will be
a final release.
