[Followups directed to comp.os.os2.utilities]
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The latest version of the OS/2 benchmarking tool, Sysbench, is now
available. I have uploaded it to ftp://hobbes.nmsu.edu in /pub/incoming
directory. Its final destination is /pub/os2/util/benchmark and the file
name is sysb093c.zip.
Sysbench includes various tests for Graphics, CPU integer and floating
point, DIVE, File I/O, Memory, Disk I/O and CD-ROM I/O. The latest version
includes new information about the web site for results and fixes for
various problems. Major changes in this version:
1) Added a new subtest to the CD tests to cater for the new Constant Angular
Velocity CD drives that are now on the market. This test was added in
Sysbench 0.9.3b but as I found a bug in this almost as soon as I uploaded it
to hobbes, I didn't announce its availability. Version 0.9.3c fixes the bug
that was in the initial release where the inner and outer rates were
reversed (i.e., what was reported as being the outer result was really from
the inner sectors of the disk). I've also removed the outer sectors test
result from the overall CD I/O Mark since I'm now adjusting this value to
account for the size of the disk and factoring it up to make it look like it
was done on a full size CD containing the full 650Mb of data possible.
2) Added long list of S3 video chipsets to the identification tables. Taken
from a USENET post about s3chipid.exe.
3) Added the ability to rightclick the mouse on the title of the various
disk/CD entries to change the description - makes it easier than going
through the menu then paging forward and doubleclicking the right entry...
4) Changed the Text render graphics test to use System Monospaced on DBCS
versions of Warp where System VIO does not exist.
