"Warpstock" Event Date and City Announced

OS/2 Users, Vendors to Meet in Los Angeles, CA

Oklahoma City, May 20, 1997 -- At a power breakfast held in St. Louis during
the recent IBM Technical Interchange, the Warpstock Steering Committee
announced a definitive date for "Warpstock 97". The inaugural event will be
held October 24-26, 1997, in Los Angeles, CA. The actual site will be
announced shortly, pending final negotiations with the candidate sites.

Warpstock 97, a major conference for OS/2 small office/home office (SOHO) and
individual end-users, is an excellent opportunity for OS/2 SOHO and individual
users and OS/2 vendors to identify this market segment's product requirements
and to exchange ideas. Users have the opportunity to present their unique
application needs to the OS/2 application vendors; those needs diverge, at
times, from those of corporate America.

"The enthusiasm the OS/2 user community has shown for Warpstock is just
tremendous," said Felix Cruz, sales and marketing director for SofTouch
Systems, a leading provider of disk and file management solutions for OS/2.
"In the 1960's, young men and women associated Woodstock with the cause of
individual freedom of expression. The millions of computer users who use OS/2
Warp as their operating system also made a choice; they looked for an
alternative better than the one suggested by the 'establishment.' Warpstock
permits an opportunity for OS/2 enthusiasts to express their 'freedom' from
the tyranny of the Microsoft hegemony," Cruz added. With a twinkle in his eye,
he whispered, "And it'll be a hell of a lot of fun!"

"Frankly, I'm not surprised so many individuals have already committed to
invest their personal time and money to attend an event aimed at the SOHO and
individual OS/2 user. It confirms what many have said all along: That the SOHO
market is a lucrative market for OS/2, and can be well served by both IBM and
independent software vendors," Cruz said.

The idea of an "OS/2 love-fest" was conceived as one result of The OS/2
Marketplace, a highly successful OS/2 vendors conference held recently in
Phoenix. The Warpstock Steering Committee was formed to coordinate the event.
Discussion about the event is ongoing on the Internet comp.os.os2.misc
newsgroup, on commercial on-line services, and with centralized discussion on
an Internet mail list. For more information, visit

Further announcements about Warpstock will be forthcoming as planning for the
event continues.
