Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp Update
A Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp Update which provides fixes to a few problems
discovered in the initial release of Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp is now
available. This update is for all users of Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp who
purchased SmartSuite 96 for OS/2 Warp or Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp soon
after their initial release. To determine if you should apply this update,
simply launch Word Pro and select Help / About Word Pro... from the Word
Pro menu. If your Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp Release number is O70.1342.0
or higher you already have an updated edition. If your Release number is
O70.1341.0, you may wish to apply this update.
How to Determine If You Should Apply This Update:
To determine if you should apply this update, simply launch Word Pro and
select Help / About Word Pro... from the Word Pro menu. If your Word Pro
96 for OS/2 Warp Release number is O70.1342.0 or higher you already have
an updated edition. If your Release number is O70.1341.0, you may wish to
apply this update.
Download the Update:

the button above to download a 3.8 Mb self-extracting ZIP file
(WPOS2UP.EXE) containing the Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp update. Please read
the installation instructions which appear below or in the README.TXT file
provided with the update.
Problems Fixed by the Word Pro 96 for OS/2 Warp ''Release 1342'' Update:
Inability to open files contained in or save files into a previously
hidden (via the ATTRIB command) subdirectory. Failure to export v umlaut
characters when exporting or saving a file in DCA RFT format. All editions
of Word Pro (North American or International) default to "inches" as the
unit of measure even if another unit of measure (such as centimeters) is
the standard for the code page currently in use.
Occasional abnormal (SYS3175) termination of Word Pro with a pointer to
PMCTLS.DLL while opening or saving a file. Occasional abnormal (SYS3175)
termination of Word Pro when attempting to close a document after spell
checking if the document contains a misspelled word in a protected table
cell.
Occasional abnormal (SYS3175) termination of Word Pro when undoing the
import of a picture via the Edit / Undo option. Occasional abnormal
(SYS3175) termination of Word Pro when exporting to or saving a file in
DCA RFT format.
Disk Space Required:
Although the updated files, in total, take up only 50K more disk space
than the files you'll be replacing - you will temporarily need
approximately 13 Mb of free disk space in order to download the
self-extracting WPOS2UP.EXE file, extract the updated files, and make
backup copies of the files being replaced during the update process. Once
you have applied and successfully verified the update you can delete
WPOS2UP.EXE and the extracted files from the temporary subdirectory and
delete the backup copies you created of the replaced files (*.OLD files)
to reclaim almost all of the disk space required to apply this update.
