Date: 2 May 2003 12:00:02 GMT
On May 1st Xtops.DE celebrated its third anniversary. Since 2000 Xtops.DE
offers laptops and PDAs with pre-installed Linux. Now the company is one
of the seniors in this small market. At the time of the founding it was
impossible to deliver pure Linux laptops. In connection with ASUS
it is no possible to offer laptops without Microsoft tax
http://xtops.de/xtops_asus.html for German students there is
even a special offer from Fujitsu-Siemens Computer
http://xtops.de/aktion.html . All laptops can be partitioned
on customers request and any Linux or BSD distribution of choice can
be installed. International keyboards are also available. Xtops.DE
sponsors some community projects http://xtops.de/xtops_sponsoring.html

Subject: TuxMobil - article about excessive Linux domain grabbing
Date: 2 May 2003 12:05:01 GMT
Hello,
as a result of the trademark charge by the trademark holder
to Asterix and Obelix against my site MobiliX (UniX on
Mobile Devices) (see http://tuxmobil.org/mobilix_asterix.html )
I had to withdraw the domain mobilix.org in February 2003.
Looking for a new name I found many websites which expressed
Linux and included words for mobility in their domain names.
Some of these websites do not seem to offer any
content related to Linux. Often their names are just
variations of the famous site Linux-on-Laptops by
Kenneth E. Harker. (see http://linux-on-laptops.com )
You can find domains which simply include keywords
of the plural form or replace the word laptop with
"notebook". Some just add "mobile" attributes.
You may find a detailed list in my article at
TuxMobil http://tuxmobil.org/domain_grabbing.html
The article contains also a research about the usage
of Linux trademarks.
