Bogofilter version 0.12.2 has been released on SourceForge.
Version 0.12.0 added a group of changes oriented towards tuning bogofilter
for optimal performance. There are also new flags for bulk mode
operations, which can be useful to ISPs and which are useful in tuning
bogofilter.
Versions 0.12.1 and 0.12.2 have added minor bugfixes to 0.12.0
See the RELEASE NOTES below for more information.

RELEASE NOTES
=================
Bogofilter 0.12.0 includes a new file, bogofilter-tuning.HOWTO.
It's in the bogofilter/doc directory and replaces README.Robinson.
Directory bogofilter/tuning has been added and contains scripts for
running tuning experiments as described in the new HOWTO. See file
bogofilter/tuning/README for more information.
Bogofilter's man page and help message describe the many command line
switches. They have been divided into groups (help, classification,
registration, general, algorithm, parameter, and info) in both places.
Bogofilter 0.12.0 has three new command line switches for rapidly scoring
large numbers of messages. These "bulk mode" switches are especially
useful for the tuning process. The new switches are:
-M - allows scoring all the messages in a mbox formatted file. If
used with "-v", an X-Bogosity line is printed as each message is
scored. Using the "-t" (terse) option is recommended to reduce the
amount of output.
-B - allows scoring of multiple message files, with each file
containing a single message. With this option, bogofilter expects the
file names to be at the end of the command line. If used with "-v",
the file name is included in each printed line. Using "-t" is
recommended.
-b - allows scoring of multiple message files, with each file
containing a single message. With this option, bogofilter reads the
file names from stdin. This option can be used with maildirs, as in
"ls Maildir/* | bogofilter -b ..." If used with "-v", the file name
is included in each printed line. Using "-t" is recommended.
New script bogolex.sh converts an email to a special file format that
contains the information needed by bogofilter to score the email.
Its use speeds up the message scoring done by the tuning scripts. The
script is described in more detail in bogofilter/tuning/README.

[LULA May 2003 Meeting Announcement - Please repost]
LULA (Linux Users of Los Angeles) presents:
Virtual Networks though Tunneling (VPN)
David Morgan will be presenting 4 kinds of tunnels: IP-in-IP,
ppp-over-ssh, CIPE, and IPSec on a live testbed network
consisting of five computers. The presentation will include
examining the configuration files for each tunnel type, and
using tcpdump at different segments of the path to observe
encapsulation and encryption of the data packets. For IPSec,
both LAN-to-LAN and road-warrior configurations will
be examined.
David Morgan is an instructor at UCLA Extension and
Santa Monica College. He teaches both the VPN and
Linux Network Tools and Techniques at UCLA Extension,
and Networking Theory and Operating Systems at SMC.

Subject: LILO version 22.5.2 released
Date: 2 May 2003 02:35:18 GMT
Reply-To: Read@MY.fullname.FOR.reply.TO
LILO release 22.5.2 is based upon Werner Almesberger's LILO version 21.
Version 22.5.2 is a minor update to version 22.5.1
o Handles reiser4 filesystem
o Bugfixes: raid-extra-boot=/dev/XXX where XXX is outside the raid set,
bootloader get number of hard drives
o -M switch creates backup files of sectors (-s and -S switches)
Version 22.5.1 is a minor update to version 22.5
o Writearounds are included for two BIOS bugs which could kill 22.5:
- Video BIOS destroy's DX register
- BIOS does not pass boot device code in DL
o Boot sector backups are handled in a more consistent fashion.
o Optional configuration file keywords are added: master-boot, boot-as=,
raid-extra-boot=mbr, bios-passes-dl= (or -Z switch).
Version 22.5 is a major update to version 22.4.1
o Booting is based upon industry-standard volume labels (s/n), which are
translated to BIOS device codes. Changes in the disk configuration
which cause the BIOS to assign device codes in a different order should
be transparent to the user.
o 256-color bitmap boot screens are now supported using VESA video BIOS
extensions. Both RGB and RLE encoded *.bmp files are supported.
Version 22.4.1 is a minor update to version 22.4.
Version 22.4 is a minor update to version 22.3.
o Virtual booting is supported with new keywords 'vmdefault', 'vmdisable',
and 'vmwarn'.
Version 22.3 is a major update to version 22.2.
o The distribution consists of /sbin/lilo ONLY; all *.b files are
incorporated within this file (builtin).
o A bitmap file header editor is incorporated (-E flag).
o The map file unifies the second stage, chain, message file, and bitmap
files.
o -E, -F, and -B flags are added (see man pages).
o Chain loader will now pass a command line to a second LILO installation.
o Boot protocol 0203h is now supported. "large-memory" option added to
force initial ramdisk loading to highest memory.
o "vga=" on command line allows any radix input.
Versions 22.2, 22.1, 22.0 are major updates to version 21.
*** THE VERSION 22 RAID1 IMPLEMENTATION IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VERSION 21.
Those using version 21 should read 'README.raid1' before installing these
new codes. There is a compatibility mode (lilo -x mbr-only) for existing
RAID1 installations which are not going to be converted to the Version 22
implementation.
Source code is available for download from:
http://brun.dyndns.org/pub/linux/lilo (developer's site)
Or from the main distribution site:
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/boot/lilo (please use)
See the distribution file 'CHANGES' for details of the differences between
22.5.2 and prior releases.
