A new version of the improved and ported netkit-ftp-0.17 (the same source
will compile under Linux and Windows as well) is available on my homepage

   http://home.wtal.de/ib/freisoft

(where you can find the Windows binaries, too) or directly by

   http://home.wtal.de/ib/download/ftp-0.17.2.tar.gz

The changes from 0.17.1 to 0.17.2 are:

   Compiles with Cygwin 1.1.4.
   Fixed problems in Cygwin port:
     - lcd will display Windows style pathname
     - COMMAND.COM will be started from C:\ if COMSPEC undefined
     - temporary files will be created in Windows temp dir
