Xi Graphics Inc. Introduces 3D Graphics Support for Matrox Cards - 3D
Linux graphics driver supports DualHead G400, delivers record 2D
perfomance.

The first 3D Accelerated-X graphics support software package for a
Matrox graphics card has been released by Xi Graphics, Inc., a Denver
company that specializes in premium graphics support software for Linux
and UNIX systems. The 3D Linux Graphics Driver (LGD) is downloadable
through Xi Graphics' web site at
http://www.XiG.COM/Pages/LGDs/LGD-Matrox-G400DualHead.html.

The Matrox G400 is also an exceptionally fast card in 2D performance,
racking up over 105 Xmarks at eight bit color depth.

Matrox's DualHead Display feature allows the user to split the display
buffer, with half on one screen and half on the other screen, providing
essentially a Single Logical Screen capability with the two screens.
The LGD realeased this week supports the 32MB model of the G400.
Support for the 16MB variant is expected to be ready soon.

The 3D Linux drivers are OpenGL 1.1.1 compliant, support libGLU and
libGL. A demo version of the LGD can be downloaded from Xi Graphics'
Web site for a limited time tryout. To make the software permanent, a
key can be purchased online from www.xig.com for $129. The key is then
e-mailed to the customer to unlock the demo product.

Subject: Lexmark 3200 ghostscript driver - v 0.3d (beta)
Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2000 21:15:53 GMT

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

A printer driver that enables Ghostscript to print on
the Lexmark 3200 Color Inkjet printer is available as
a beta release for Linux.
The driver is made using informations obtained by
reverse-engineering the printer protocol, and it has no
kind of support or acknowledgement from Lexmark.

** This is the first public release of this driver, and
** it must be considered a development version.

This version supports both monochromatic (black and
white) and color printing at 600dpi resolution. Color
printing supports both standard 4-colors mode (with the
color and the B/W cartridges) and photoquality 6-colors
mode (with the color and the photo cartridges).
This release does not support 1200dpi and bidirectional
printing: these features are planned for a successive
release.

Anybody interested in testing the driver can find the
documentation and both source and precompiled binary
packages at the URL:

http://www.geocities.com/dgordini

I will much appreciate anybody's help in beta testing and
development of the driver. If you decide to test it,
please do read carefully the documentation before
installing, and after the test send me a short mail
stating your experience (success, problems, bugs,
whatever).

Many thanks!

Daniel Gordini

Subject: Open Motif Everywhere Update Includes first Bug Fixes by Open Source Community
Date: Mon, 19 Jun 2000 21:09:02 GMT
Reply-To: mhatch@ics.com

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc. (ICS) announces the immediate
availability of the first upgrade to its existing Open Motif Everywhere
distribution. This upgrade includes the first bug fixes generated by the
Open Source Community and also SRPMs for those wishing to build their
own versions of Open Motif from source code. By providing SRPMs, ICS
makes it possible for developers to more easily experiment and create
their own customized versions.

Open Motif Everywhere is the ICS distribution of Open Motif 2.1.30 built
from the official Open Group sources. ICS is making the binaries and
sources to Open Motif Everywhere available for free download through
ICS' Open Motif portal site, http://www.motifzone.net. A CD-ROM
distribution, containing binaries for most popular Linux and FreeBSD
distributions, Open Motif source code, Adobe PDF versions of the
official Motif 2.1 Manual set and email installation support is
available through the MotifZone and popular Linux retailers such as
Linux Mall. Annual support contracts are offered for commercial
customers.

Open Motif Everywhere has been tested on the following distributions:
Corel (Intel), FreeBSD (Intel), Linux PPC 2000 (PPC), Mandrake (Intel),
Red Hat (Intel, Sparc, Alpha), Slackware (Intel), Storm 2000 (Intel),
SuSE (Intel), and TurboLinux (Intel). In addition, Open Motif Everywhere
is expected to work on other Linux distributions because of the high
degree of binary compatibility between Linux systems.

ICS Background:
Founded in 1987, ICS’ first product offerings included X training and a
version of Motif for Sun Microsystems. Since 1998, ICS has been The Open
Group exclusive technical support organization for its Motif source code
licenses. ICS is the market leader in Motif graphical user interface
development tools, Builder Xcessory PRO (BX PRO). In November of 1999,
ICS’ Motif graphical user interface development tool, Builder Xcessory
PRO (BX PRO), won the Editor´s Choice award from The Linux Journal, for
the Best New Application for Software Development.

=====BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE=====

SGI is pleased to announce the new version of Performance Co-Pilot (PCP)

open source (version 2.1.7-2) is now available for download from
http://oss.sgi.com/projects/pcp/download

There are binary RPMS for ia32 and ia64, the source RPM and tar.gz files.
The source is also known build and work for Linux-ppc and Linux-alpha.

The PCP homepage is at http://oss.sgi.com/projects/pcp and you can join
the PCP mailing list via http://oss.sgi.com/projects/pcp/mail.html

Changes since the last public release (2.1.4) include :-

Adjustments to tolerate SuSE's location of magic file (different
than Redhat's) and the lack of chkconfig on SuSE, migration of all
__clone use to pthreads to improve portability (especially to IA64),

support for RAID disk stats and devfs-style SCSI disk names, new XFS

metrics extracted from /proc/fs/xfs/stat, NFS (version 3) metrics,
use of -Wall in CFLAGS, and numerous bug fixes.

To use the new XFS metrics, obviously you need a kernel that supports
XFS - see http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/cvs_download.html or join the
XFS mailing list via http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/mail.html

In addition, there is a new PCP monitoring tool available "PCPMON"
from Michal Kara http://freshmeat.net/appindex/2000/05/15/958381663.html

and a new PCP agent for MYSQL Databases, also from Michal.

SGI would be delighted to hear from anyone wanting to contribute to the
PCP project (especially new monitoring tools), and will provide technical
assistance getting your project off the ground.

thanks
